Context
In September 2019, three new Product Designers became part of the Design team that, until then, had only two PDs, one Design System Ops, one UX Researcher, and the Lead of the chapter. At that time, one year had passed since the restructuring of the entire product team, but the squads were still struggling with the inconsistent and fragmented experience that users had to deal with.
Problems
- The three new Product Designers didn't know anything about the business, the product, and the users.
- The user experience was inconsistent and fragmented.
- The design system that was being built had not yet been tested by the team.
Goals
- Present the new Product Designers to the business, the product, and the users.
- Create an environment to enable team integration.
- Rethink the mobile experience for Students and Teachers.
- Evaluate if the design system was ready to be used by the Product Designers.
Methodology
To raise the chances of us reaching the goals set, the most adequate format was the workshop. To do so we used the first three days of the Design Sprint methodology as a starting point.
The activities were divided as follows:
- Monday: Map
- Tuesday: Sketch & Decide (Student Experience)
- Wednesday: Prototype
- Thursday: Sketch & Decide (Teacher Experience)
- Friday: Prototype
